Antarctic activities planned or conducted by New Zealanders, or carried out within the Ross Dependency, are potentially affected by several different pieces of New Zealand environmental legislation. Information provided here is intended as a guide only and not as a substitute for the actual legislation and its requirements.
Antarctica New Zealand has a Policy Manual which is applicable to all staff. Copies are available to view at Antarctica New Zealand offices in Christchurch and at Scott Base. It is your responsibility to be aware of the contents of the Policy Manual and how the policies affect you.
Our medical policy is in line with the requirements of the Health Information Privacy Code (1994) and our overall activities meet the requirements of Health & Safety Act 1992.
It is important that people travelling to Antarctica as part of the New Zealand Antarctic programme are thoroughly familiar with these documents. Copies of these documents are available from Antarctica New Zealand on request.
