Tim Naish, Director of Victoria University's Antarctic Research Centre, talks to Kathryn Ryan about the Antarctic projects that will be supported by the Marsden fund
What is Antarctica teaching some of our researchers? Victoria University's Antarctic Research Centre's been granted nearly $2m by the Marsden Fund for four projects that look at the role of the continent and climate change.
One of the projects aims to work out how high global sea levels were 3 million years ago which was the last time the atmosphere had the same level of CO2 as the present day. Other projects include examining the stablility of the ice sheet in Antarctica and Ice Core records.
Two of the supported projects are for early career researchers, who have returned to New Zealand from overseas institutions.
