TV3 reporter Hamish Clark shares some of his first experiences as part of Antarctica New Zealand's media programme.
Some Kiwi scientists who are currently in Antarctica are studying the depth of sea ice as a way of measuring the effects of climate change. Others are going beneath the ice, researching how organisms that live there are being affected by a changing global climate and the impact these changes may have on the Antarctic marine ecosystems including apex species such as penguins.
A planned Air New Zealand flight to Antarctica today has been called off again today. It's the third time the proof of concept flight has been delayed this season.
